Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
After this last winter in Chicago, I give up. Chicago wins. So I'm off to seek fortune and glory in the Bay Area and I have some questions.
First, I just installed a full Termi kit on my 695. Will I have any problems passing CA emissions?
Second, I need a place to rent, starting around June 1. I'm looking for something in the south bay, like Menlo Park-ish. Ideally has a garage or someplace reasonably secure for one or two bikes. At least 2bd is a must, and I'd prefer to rent something other than in an apartment complex. I know this is a long shot, but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks for your time. Any information is appreciated.

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
I don't think you'll have an emissions problem, aren't all the Monsters 50 state? So I doubt they'd do an inspection...
When it comes to renting... how much do you want to spend?
craigslist.org seemed like a useful tool when I was rental hunting...

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
Thanks. I've been hitting CL for places, but I thought I'd try here as well.
I don't WANT to spend anything.... But I'm willing to go up to $3k/month if the place is decent.

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
Welcome!
I don't think you'll have an issue with your exhaust. It's not like they test bikes for smog here, but the DMV may require some sort of inspection prior to registering. If the inspector makes a big deal about the Termis you may have to find some stockers to put on. Fortunately, there are plenty of those around here
BTW - You're going to absolutely love the roads here. And the fact that you'll see Monsters every day [thumbsup]

Welcome!
1) Nope. You still have the silver emissions sticker under your seat and/or the one on your frame? Then you're golden. Alternatively, if you have 7500 miles on the bike, you're golden anyway.
2) Housing here costs a billion dollars. Billion and a half with a garage.

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
$3K in the South Bay should get you at least a house with 2 bedrooms and a garage. If you decide to live in civilization it may get you slightly less [cheeky]

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
I'm looking for housing in the peninsula/south bay as well. I need a yard since I got dogs.
3k *should* do it, but there aren't that many 2bd houses. They're mostly apartments, condos and townhouses. You'll have better luck finding a 3bd, but that means more $$. The 2 bds are out there, just got to look harder and jump on them when you find them.

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
It is tough if you have a dog. My pooch died not very long before we moved out here. But, our housing options opened up enormously.

Re: Relocating to the Bay and have some questions
welcome to SF! you've left winter in the midwest (I'm originally from Milwaukee) to arrive just in time for winter in the city 3k should get you something very decent in the south bay. I have a 2 bdrm w/ garage apt in the city and pay ~2500- it's quite nice too.
Exhaust concerns should not be an issue- those termis come standard with ducatis, right ?
