Pedestrian sting in SF, Wed April 30: 30th Ave & Lincoln
Ths SFPD will conduct a pedestrian "sting" at the intersection of
30th Avenue and Lincoln Way on the morning of Wednesday, April
16. Stop for pedestrians (decoy cops) or you'll get a $100 ticket!

kinda random. don't they have anything better to do? I can think of several streets downtown near 101 on-ramps where cars have absolutely ZERO respect for traffic laws.
i'd rather they spend some time in bernal with all the gunfire we've been hearing lately.

I'm on the fence about this. We certainly have a big problem in the city with people (mostly cars) failing to yield to pedestrians. There are certain problem intersections where people drive like crap (running red lights, carrying more speed than they should, etc). But like sh said, there are much more pressing things the SFPD can take on. I think they just enjoy shooting fish in a barrel once in a while ;D

How nice of them to allow the public to anticipate it. I encountered a similar thing in downtown Sausalito last Saturday. The decoy LEOs were wearing neon outerwear to enhance the "Look, pedestrian is on the crosswalk" element. And there were 3 moto cops on a side road, ready to pursue.

Re: Pedestrian sting in SF, Wed April 30: 30th Ave & Lincoln
A few Years ago my friend and I got a J walking ticket for crossing in the cross walk because I entered the intersection while the numbers were counting down from 20. It was actually 19 seconds left when I entered. Apparently that is a ticketable offense. It would only take me 5 seconds to get across the rather short cross walk.
They were writing tickets because there was a Bar on the Corner and drunk people would randomly cross the street and almost get hit.
Of course I was not even at that bar and was trying to find food but I got caught in the mess.
I am not sure what my point is. This posting just reminded me of that :-\
