Default The SRA-West needs passengers!!!

The first race of the 2008 season for the Sidecar Racers Association West was great. We had an excellent showing of 12 rigs on the grid at Willow Springs. Which given the sub-50 degree temps, snow on the mountains, and wind, was pretty stellar.

We have many more teams coming out this season to join us. But we are short passengers. We have several experienced drivers with good F1 sidecars who are without passengers because their experienced passengers have graduated up to becoming the driver of their own F1/FII sidecar. This fleshes out our grids substantially, but only if we can get passengers out on those sidecars for practice and races.

So consider this a call for tryouts. If you've ever wanted to do something totally insane, totally nuts, and have the most fun you'll ever have in your life doing anything at all -ever- The SRA is looking for you.

The next round of tryouts for Novice passengers is April 11-12-13 at Willow Springs Intl. Raceway on the big track. AHRMA race weekend, lots of track time, and two six lap races.

If you find passengering on a road racing sidecar is for you, and you, we'll hook you up with a driver and an experienced passenger/mentor and start the training process to turn you into a pro.

Requirements:
~ Snell Helmet
~ 1pc or 2pc 360 zip leathers
~ Decent MC gloves
~ Decent (flexible) MC boots or Chuck Taylors
~ Back Protector

Is there an optimal weight range for this?

Moike - I think you forgot one requirement:

No, I'm 200 pounds. Some passengers are featherweight.

Being big, I get to be 'lazy' on the back, move around less, and Sarah can drive into a corner harder.

Oh, yeah... I can literally pick up the back end of the rig and put it wherever the fsck I want. I -drive- from where I am.

The featherweights have the advantage on the straights of course, where that 5lbs per HP advantage really comes into play. And they can tuck in tighter behind the bodywork for slipstream advantage, whereas my gut and ass has as much drag as a schoolbus.

The higher the sense of one's own mortality, the better the job the passenger will do in keeping the rig securely planted on the racetrack.

So if you have a big fear of the Grim Reaper and hospital bedsheets, you'll probably see lots of podium finishes, as you'll perform better than even the most advanced German computer traction control system.

This is cool... the driver and pax on Lucky 13 are good friends of mine.

Mark and Bobette are great folk! Mark rides an Aprilia too and had a Ducati previously.

I've been to watch/photo them race - freakin wild!

If the opportunity presents - GO!

DITTO! >

I "hacked' once way-back-when at Sears Point. Just walkin around the pits during open sidecar practice and got to talking to one guy that wasn't out on the track. turns out his hack is sick, he's paid his fees already and is basically sunk. Well one thing leads to another and the next thing ya know... look ma! Was an absolute blast! I would do it again in a hearbeat.

This stuff always seems to happen at the other end of the state.... :
