The bermuda triangle of the north bay...
I missed the northbay sunday morning cinnamon run this week, and logged onto another board to see this posted:

I called my friends on the ride, luckily it wasn't any of them. Apparently a Suzuki rider crested the hill with a truck turning into or out of the driveway at the top of the hill. Speed definitely played a factor as one of my friends described a 100 foot long skidmark. Rider suffered multiple fractures to one of his legs, but nothing life threatening according to the EMTs.
WTF? I've read about all the crashes I care to lately
Be careful, especially on roads you don't know and anywere you don't have sight lines!

I don't know. This is ridiculous. ??? >
We should paint the road like we were talking about at first. Skull and bones or something.
Break numbers...
Maybe put a mirror up so you can see the driveway as well.

Re: The bermuda triangle of the north bay...
Maybe a bigger, more official-looking sign?

Re: The bermuda triangle of the north bay...
I think that someone who would disregard the sign that is there would probably disregard any other form of sign as well :-\

Very good point. And who knows if it was that exact corner...there's one driveway there, but several others in the vicinity. It might not have been the exact same spot.

Re: The bermuda triangle of the north bay...
I talked to the guy who lives there in that drive way when GrendelsTwin's friend crashed there. He said turning left into his home is always risking his life or a bikers. Sometimes he even stops, gets out, walks to the top of the hill and waves his wife to pull in the driveway. It just a really bad combo of elements.
The Sign is great, but obviously too subtle for some.
I've seen less severe places have blinking lights on signs and all kinds of warnings.
Mostly I want to do something fun so people get it. I'm sure the residents would be all for it. I mean the guy just got hit. That sucks.

I think that's what happened, only they were pulling out of the driveway. I remember him saying they wait there like ten seconds before leaving their driveway to make sure traffic can clear the valley. They seemed like really good people, and still amiable towards bikers despite all the crashes there.
There's plenty of better places for more throttle. The more you roll the dice, the more chances you have to lose.

Amen ! I was coming up Howell Mtn Rd from Pope Valley into Angwin yesterday and someone pulled out of their driveway, turning onto the Rd in the same direction as me. I wasn't going as fast as I like to on that stretch (scrubbing in a new rear tire and generally enjoying a mellow pace) and had enough time to slow, but it could have been hairy. No fault of their's, just a tricky driveway.
Other than that the ride was just AWSOME! Blessed with unobstructed runs on some of my favorite North Bay roads. What a great day! ;D
