Default HWY 1

I have to go to LA for work this week :-\ But to make it less painful I am going to ride down the Coast
I have done long distance on the monster before, but I haven't ridden the coast in a year, and never done it solo. I was wondering if there were things I should watch for (LEO's bad sections) or good places to stop for lunch.. sight seeing. I am riding from SF to Ventura on Wednesday. Staying there and then braving LA traffic at 10 Thurs for the final leg to the EXPO.

Just looking for pointers
Thanks in Advance

I did it almost 2 years ago. It was a good trip, the only thing that sucked was that it was cold as hell along the coast! I went in late August and wasn't expecting 50 degree weather, it was all socked in with fog. Try and jump onto the 33 when you get down in socal, it's a great road and you won't regret it. And gas was super expensive in Big Sir, but well worth the views. [thumbsup]

It can get kinda windy in the spring, so watch for gusts as you come around some of those corners.

Oh, be sure to hit the Jolon/Ft. Hunter Ligget Rd. on the way back. It connects King City with somewhere down south. You'll see it on a map.

Be sure to fill up in Carmel Valley. It is about 100 miles to Cambria, the next (reliable) gas stop.

On a Wed. there shouldn't be much LEO action, except maybe around Hearst castle. The main thing is to get past those Winnebagos! They often stop traffic for construction - so be sure to ride to the front of the line to get a nice clear stretch of road. [thumbsup]

Wish I was going!

I want to do this same ride very soon only I'll stop in San Luis Obispo. I have no need to go all the way to LA. *shudder*

I anxiously await your photos.
