"Ralston Avenue, near Notre Dame de Namur University" is scary even in a car. i think it's 35mph but there are some sketchy pullouts from the kids.
talking about this sort of thing does serve the double purpose. i am reminded again how it can all go wrong so fast. RIP fellow rider

Re: Fallen Rider
Hello All,
I'm a friend of Chris Seal. Im not a rider myself, but a cyclist. I found out about this board reading about all the cycling accidents that happened over the weekend. Thanks msincredible for pointng me over here. But I really came here to thank all of you for your kind thoughts. You guys are a great community. He truly is a great guy and will be missed. Also, Im gracious to you guys for keeping this thread clean without any speculation on what happened. Services for Chris completed this Monday. PM me if you want any further information.
Take care and be safe out there.

Re: Fallen Rider
So absolutely senseless...
It's times like these that I wonder whether I shouldn't just pack it in. But then I remember that Chris and the other friends we've lost wouldn't want it that way. Riding is part of what ties us together, and it's something we love. No sense in letting a tragedy like this become even more tragic.

Re: Fallen Rider
I am late posting to this thread. I did not feel I had anything to add. I still don't but... man I am so close to crying......
I was down in my garage working on my bike. Doin' a few different things and today I had all day for bike work so I thought it would be a good time to chop my Termi cans. I had read all the threads over a month ago but I did not want to start the project till I was sure I could finish. I did one can from start to finish in about 45 minutes and it was easier than I had expected so I thought I would document the change as I did the other can and post it up.
I did not want to start a new thread on this old subject so I did a search. The first thread I found was a MOB thread so I thought cool and opened it up. MrSeals had started the thread. Oh, nuts. Seeing that thread hit me like a ton of bricks. I had never met Chris. But I along with others here had posted in that thread. Just normal MOB stuff. The community. And MrSeals wonderin' about choppin' his Termis. Just like me. Somehow that brought this tragedy all too close to home.
I never knew you Chris. But I miss you. And now I have shed a tear because you are gone. RIP brother.

Re: Fallen Rider
msincredible and I went to his memorial service, to pay our respects, both from us and the rest of the MOB.
It was...painful beyond words to see him. They had clearly done extensive reconstructive surgery to make Chris viewable. His mouth was contorted, turned down, as if he was still in pain.
It was a horrible mockery of the smiling, happy pictures of himself that were surrounding his casket. It was him, but it wasn't him.
Seeing the sheer volume of people who not only turned out, but were outright, publicly, falling to pieces and having to support each other only led credence to the impression I had gotten from him and those that knew him, which was, that he was a great guy.
I have other things to say, but they'd be best left unsaid. This was a tragedy, and I'm sorry it should've happened to someone who was so alive, and who apparently brought joy unto others. RIP, Chris. I hope wherever you are now, they have motorbikes.
