Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
I'm free both days this weekend and willing to lead a chill paced ride or two through the northbay for anyone interested. For those of you that have been waiting for a relaxed introduction to group riding and/or the northbay route, here's your chance. [thumbsup] Newbies and Scooters Welcome.
I'm willing to ride both days - 6/9 & 6/10, so let me know if you'd be riding Saturday, Sunday or both.
The proposed route is the MOB's Standard Northbay Ride, with a slight detour: west on Sir Francis Drake stopping for lunch in Inverness. I was thinking of meeting around 10am-ish at Tam Junction and leaving around 10:30am if that works for most.
Pre-ride article for those that haven't read it yet: The Pace
Anyone willing to lead a faster group, post up too...
Who's interested?

Re: Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
What about a S. Bay ride or Berryessa or something? Enzo and I and a few other folks were mentioning that we're free to ride this weekend, but I'm pushing more for Sunday. And I'd like to go a more brisk pace if that's OK, although I wouldn't mind hanging out with folks at a lunch stop, etc.
Does this sound doable or should I start another thread so as not to impede on your kind-heartedness. We haven't done a good newb ride in a long time and you're a good lead. I don't want to take that away from anyone, but I need to get out and "stretch my legs" a bit. >

M -
Berryessa, this time of year, is extremely heavy in enforcement and the squids are in no short supply. If you head out for a "brisk" ride around the Lake, please be mindfull of the threats. We skipped Berryessa this weekend and headed to the Sierras for a brisk, cool, enforcement-thin ride... Was wonderful.
I got Daddy stuff to do Saturday morning, so I won't be riding until after lunch time... but there's plenty of light left. Be safe all...

Re: Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
I'd be down for at least one of the days. Doesn't really matter which.. I did the route yesterday - those are some freaky tight turns between stinson beach and muir beach .

Re: Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
The key to doing Tam safely, as was told to me when I first started riding, is to simply assume that ALL turns are decreasing radius. (Definition of decreasing radius turn: turn tightens up as you go through it.) It's actually a good way to approach any turn, but it's especially true on Tam.
Well, it sounds like I should plan on starting a new thread for a Sunday ride in either S. Bay or E. Bay. I'll direct people who are in the mood for taking it easy to this thread, however, we will be stressing The Pace on our ride as well. Getting a ticket for doing 100+ mph on a straight or on the freeway is stooooh-ped. [cheeky]

Re: Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
I had noticed the increasing number of newbies, and a distinct lack of newbie specific rides which is why I volunteered to lead one (or two). I have no problem with faster peeps joining in and blazing the trail, but my primary intent was to offer some of our newer Duclings a wing to fly under at their own pace. If no such Duclings peep up, I'm up for more speed and lean angle. >
I suggested the Northbay route because that's what I'm most familiar with and it seems to get a good response. I'm not locked into it, though. I could do a Berryessa run, but I'd need someone else to to lead a more spirited pace. Southbay is more iffy for me to make. I could probably be lured with offers of liquor and/or strippers. Again, I'd also need someone else to lead...

Yup. Sounds like Berryessa's not a good option to merge rides. Thanks for the heads up Rick![thumbsup]

Re: Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
I started a new thread for a South Bay ride, based on Rick's recommendations. We do need to have a good newbie ride or two to get people used to riding with us. We haven't had that this year yet (that I can recall.) I think you're an excellent lead anywhere, but North Bay is your territory, so good call. If the turn-out is slow/low for this one, then push it back another weekend and come join us, Grendel! http://www.ducatimonster.org/smf/ind...?topic=82868.0 [thumbsup]

Re: Northbay Newbie Friendly Ride(s)
Definitely interested, Sunday is better...
Took the long way home yesterday, did the Lucas Valley out to water and made a left to go back back thru Muir Beach route yesterday - Lucas Valley is MUCH nicer than Sir Francis, IMO...
Had my new babe less than a week, but just can't seem to get rid o' those strips...
