Re: My first high wind, elvated bridge and rain trip!
All the way to Sacramento without rain gear I'm assuming??? Ugh. I'm not crazy about riding in the rain, but it's not so bad with the right stuff on you. Be careful on the roads right now--you know how they're supposed to be all greasy from the first rain. I thought traction was fine this evening but I took it easy on the ride home. I really don't like wind and rain...bad combo. My first time attempting to hang off my bike was in a bad storm just trying to ride straight in the wind. [laugh]

Tim, I think more words are needed:
Rainsuit
Rain-X & Rain-X Anti-fog
Foggy respro
Totes or Goretex boot
Rubber over-gloves or Goretext gloves
Electric vest ;D

Re: My first high wind, elvated bridge and rain trip!
I had a rain jacket over so I didn't get wet at all really. My helmet all the has some wind issues at times has a great anti fog coating and I've yet to see a spot of fog. my gloves did get a bit wet but it wasn't uncomfortable. but if I decide to do this more often more rain approproate gear will be in my future. Anyone know some shops here in sacramento that might have some rain jumpsuit deals?
the rain was more killing the goinf out scene then the transportation

Re: My first high wind, elvated bridge and rain trip!
If you already have a rain jacket, you can just buy rain pants. I never use a one piece suit because they are a hassle to get on, but they do offer a bit more protection in a serious squall. Cycle Gear has a pretty decent selection, and there is one in SAC

Never forget the first law of rain riding, up there with Gravity and Thermodynamics: a rainsuit will always leak at the crotch first! [laugh]

Re: My first high wind, elvated bridge and rain trip!
Yeah...you really have to get all the flaps on those suits perfectly aligned and velcroed down. There was one day this winter where I probably missed a 1/2" of velcro at about belly-button level on my rain jacket. By the time I got to work 20 minutes and 15 miles later, everything from my waist down to my socks was drenched--and I was wearing leathers undneath! [laugh]
