Pretty bike what are you thinking of getting? I should ask price but the girlfriend is happy with her 97 750 Monster (and I am making my next purchase pipes for my bike) though the orange stripe does match her bug.

Seems reasonable (pipes and some mods I see) sad thing most people on this site already have their monster (though it would be a good site to investigate prior to jumping in) I think I would get it up on every available sale avenue now cause in about two weeks sales will slow and all you will have is tire kickers and real cheap bastards looking for a deal. Good luck what colour 999 are you in lust with? Just a thought in 97 Ducati had a special release of a 748 (Neumann Marcus) clothing store in New York they sponsored a race team, anyway they had 100 and I got one (won the bid on-line) I was then currently very happy with my 900 SS SP but the 748 was sex on wheels. Talked Tom (the then owner of Brampton Cycle) to let me take a 748 for a ride prior to accepting the special silver one with medalion (which I still have) jacket and gloves all inclusive with the bike. The ride through some backroads near Milton was awesome but I went down to Mississauga (Saturday afternoon) hit traffic and my dream bike became a nightmare friggin hot, friggin hard on the wrists, shitty shifting, no torque. Well Tom let me off the hook (he had someone who wanted it). Maybe try the 999 or something similar in the kind of riding situation that you currently ride (maybe the Monster ain't so monstrous) We all need a bunch of bikes to fulfill every situation.

Christ you weren't sure about my posting (neither was I) Sorry the ADD kicks in sometimes while typing and though I can run off at the mouth my typing can't keep up. I had the opportunity to buy a "special" 748 in '97 but after riding one stayed with my 900 SS SP. (till 02) Just suggesting that a Monster is a better all round bike and though change is always exciting be careful of the change you wish for (jeezus that didn't make any sense either). Just road test a 999 before buying OK cool.

Thanks for the advice...I am a big fan of the handling and ergonomics of the monster; however I am looking for a more aggressive tone in a bike , even if I have to sacrifice comfort. I am not certain of a new 1098...A few rumores of unreliability with the new motor, however the 999 has been a great success. If any someone finds a 999 owner looking to down size to a monster, please let me know.
