The latest addition to Ducati’s acclaimed Monster family arrives at dealerships June 25th

Cupertino, Calif. (22 June 2010) – Ducati North America is excited to announce the arrival of the new
Monster 796 with a national dealer premiere on June 25-26th.

The Monster 796 dealer premiere will take place at participating dealers with an event on the evening of Friday June 25th, where an unveiling and evening of festivities will take place. On Saturday June 26th the Monster will be available for test rides so one can experience firsthand the lightweight performance this new model has to offer.

As the first of the 2011 Ducati’s to arrive in North America, the Monster 796 represents a significant upgrade from its sibling Monster 696 for an exceptional value. The latest of Ducati’s air cooled powerplants puts out 87hp and 56lb/ft of torque, propelling the lightweight 367lb Monster to its destination in a rapid and comfortable manner thanks to the 796’s improved seat design and raised handlebars. The Monster 796 stands out in the Ducati lineup due to signature red elements such as the bike’s trellis frame, ¼ stripe on the wheels and more.

Monster riders who love to customize their bikes will be delighted at the arrival of the new Logomania body kits, designed to change the color of a bike in a matter of minutes using classic Ducati designs from over the years. Also coming out alongside the Monster 796 is a set of accessory passenger grab handles, designed for added passenger comfort without sacrificing looks.

I can't believe this costs as much as my 696 with ABS... Wish I waited a couple months Way to stick it to us Ducati... Guess this is just a fact of life though, always something newer and better around the corner.

Same here. I placed my order a couple weeks ago. Probably won't get it until the end of July. I test rode a non-ABS 796 yesterday, and it was sooooooo comfortable. Fits me perfectly.

Also have a 796 abs on order. The store has a couple of non-abs versions and supposedly mine is in it's way, but no word on a date yet. I figure they should arrive around the US at the same time, but hoping it will be less than a week from now... Wishful thinking, I know

My dealer just called me and told me that due to manufacturing and shipping delays, the 796 ABS models are not expected to be at dealers until the end of August

If anyone hears anything different or actually gets theirs, please post a message.

Dang... was considering just getting one without ABS due to the delay (because I am out of a bike until then, my other was damaged in an accident and insurance took it away), but I know later that since I am a city rider for the most part, that I would regret it (also I know ABS would prevented my accident because it was all about stopping distance)...

Again, if you get a different indication, please post...

UPDATE: My dealer called me back again to let me know that he should have a VIN# for me tomorrow as the Ducati representative will be at the dealership tomorrow and will assist in the process. He reconfirmd that the current date for delivery is the end of August. He can't imagine any ABS models getting to any USA dealerships before that time and therefore other reports must be erroneous...

I know it's hard waiting for a bike, I ended up going with white instead of black because I didn't want to wait to weeks Not that I regret not waiting, I love white too. But ABS is a bigger deal then color, definitely wait for that. I have it on my 696 and love knowing its there. It's kicked in a couple times and I am glad it's been there.

Kanos - Thanks for the note... It is hard to wait... especially since I don't have another bike to ride in the meantime... but I agree that the ABS will be worth it.

I just want to be sure that my dealer is being honest and that they didn't sell the one arriving shortly to someone else and that I am not actually waiting for the 'second' batch to arrive. My assumption since they have been a good shop thus far is that they are being honest and I am just being paranoid because I don't want to wait...
