Well, mine is on it's way via truck (I got my VIN), but yours may be on the second boat that is due to arrive Tuesday. Either way, all the ABS bikes that were ordered back in June are almost here.

Right on!

I assume it requires some time to assemble before hitting the shop too, but sounds like overall the wait is mostly over... Whew!

Only a 100cc difference and less than 5hp difference. Whats the deal? Is my 696 really that weak?

I thought it was strange too. Perhaps he only weighs 100 lbs, or maybe he had a passenger and that helped balance the weight further back. I dunno. Weird.

I see dudes do wheelies on even lower horsepower bikes. I thought the wheelie thing was all about tork to weight ratio and hitting the throttle and pulling back at just the right sweet spots. The 796 does have greater tork available at lower RPMs with greater HP and does not weight much more than the 696. Maybe a combo of factors.

I've only done a wheelie once (a real sustained one) and it was on my 02 750ie monster, so I'm no expert, that's for sure

Kanos - Thanks for the note... It is hard to wait... especially since I don't have another bike to ride in the meantime... but I agree that the ABS will be worth it.

I just want to be sure that my dealer is being honest and that they didn't sell the one arriving shortly to someone else and that I am not actually waiting for the 'second' batch to arrive. My assumption since they have been a good shop thus far is that they are being honest and I am just being paranoid because I don't want to wait...

Well, they say, the best things in life are worth waiting for!
