Default good insurance companies

just wanted to ask those that were willing to share what insurance carriers are good people to deal with. this will be my final experience with progressive...i had them when i had my sentra totaled by the drunk driver last year, and they tried to nickel and dime me for a "scratched bumper" which was obviously caused by the chains the salvage crew that picked up my car from the scene that night (even though they were just going to turn around and subrogate the claim to the drunk guy's insurance company...)....and i went with them again, because of lower rates, for my bike. i guess "fool me twice, and shame on me" applies here. i haven't even heard from my claims agent for a week+, despite about seven messages to both the office and his cell phone, and having to beat him back about where i wanted to take the bike for repairs (would anyone here take their bike anywhere besides AMS? i didn't think so...).

anyway, just been some horrible experience all-around so far...and the bike matter isn't even over yet, but i'm just wanting to ask people what companies out there are good to deal with, for my next bike, or my next policy with the 750 once it's repaired...i don't have a car (which excludes me from being covered for some companies, unfortunately), so that will be a factor, but there has to be a better company to deal with than these unresponsive bastards. any suggestions are appreciated

No good personal experience here. Have never had a claim so my opinions means nothing. I have half my bikes on Progressive (which obviously sucks as evidenced by your story :P) and half on GEICO. I just have liability coverage and that's all so my 2 cents doesn't count but I thought I would reply to get the feedback going. I too would like to see and hear some insurance stories from the gang. It would be helpful for us all. [thumbsup]

I was with State Farm for a very long time, & had several incidents both with cars & bikes, & was always treated VERY well.
I recently switched the bikes over to Farmers, 'cause it's cheaper, & seems to offer more coverage, (the cars are still with State Farm), but I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet

My personal experience with dairyland was fantastic. They treated me good and the price couldn't be beat.

Was run off the road last month on the H-D. State Farm was quick to cut a check for the repairs, but they won't even let me BUY the old parts. What's up with that?

Back in '05 I went down doing about 73 mph on I-5 in San Diego. Had Progressive then. They were unbelievably great to work with, and they gave me the old parts.

Looking to go back to Progressive.

Haven't dealt with too many people.

Had Geico when I totalled my M620 a couple years back, and they were very prompt in getting me my check to get me back on a bike.

I currently have Allstate insurance...no coll/comp coverage (couldn't afford THAT : ), however I was able to get coverage at 25/50/25 (better than the state minimums) for right under $212 for the entire year. They were super fast in processing my stuff through, and they were super friendly and easy to deal with. No extra red tape (just standard issue insurance red tape) to deal with.

almost as a lark, i called esurance (they're underwritten by American Modern Insurance Group for motorcycles) yesterday evening (after calling for quotes from about six other companies), and all i can say is....wow. and the guy i talked to on the phone was knowledgeable not only about the policy and details of how claims were handled, but also about motorcycles; ducatis even. though i did talk to a very pleasant rep. from dairyland also...and they have decent prices and coverages (and i qualified for "gold"... : ), but i'm not sure i can pass up a price like esurance was quoting me. they said they also discount your policy by 10% if you have no incidents the first year, and by 15% each subsequent year.
