Cool! Was telling RichD last night that my Dad (recently deceased) was in the Confederate Air Force for YEARS! Hit all the big air shows across the country with all his rat pack CAF flying buddies. He was into WWII fighters but settled on T-6 Texan fighter trainers in his latter flying years. Left me with a bunch of airplane hangars and a L-19 "Bird Dog" tail dragger to sell as executor of his estate. Loved going to the big Oshkosh fly in and the Reno air races. Don't fly myself (except on motorcycles close to the ground [thumbsup]) but grew up in a flying family. Congrats on the groovy plane! [clap]
the only thing i know about planes is: a)not smart enough to fly one b) it's cheaper than driving and you only get a small bag of peanuts (if any) and c)they have a bad tendency to release their ordnance on the WRONG people. yours looks great though and it has no ordnance which is a plus!!!!

Very cool.. Is that a variable pitch prop?.. and wood to boot?

Methinks that's a fixed prop....very sweet with the wood prop though. I don't know this for a fact (note the aforementioned disclaimer) but I don't think that very many if any airplanes have variable pitch wooden props....they can't stand the torque created by the pitch change while in motion and tend to break very easily.
Just a "methinks" though, not for sure about that.
I'm workin on my commercial ticket right now.

The prop is a fixed pitch wood prop. Engine is a Mazda 13b out of a 93 RX7. She will top out at 200 mph and can be talked into doing mild aerobatics with just a mere whisper.

We are having our EAA chapter Fly-In on May the 10th . Show usually starts around 9 a.m. and ends about 2.pm. I will give you guys directions if you want to show up. If the weather is good we usually have about 150 airplanes show up. Burgers and dogs on sale to raise money. We send a kid to Airventure Camp at Oshkosh every year from the proceeds. I am usually pretty busy, But I may be able to squeeze in a ride or two.

will it be like the commercials i saw recently for that redbull-sponsored event where you have to fly through rings and such? i'd like to get a ride during one of your laps if so...i promise i won't puke.
Sounds like an excellent opportunity for another Duc group ride ;D
