Tip Top Chop :)
I got around to chopping the tail today (thanks for the help Alan [thumbsup]). It's not 100% done yet I had to order some spacers for the turn signals so they won't rub on the seat cowl, so I have to go cowless for a little while. I am also gonna paint the Cookies kit to match the frame, and do something with the stupid inspection sticker bracket, and those cheesy reflector bolts that are holding the plate on.
I am pleased with the rough chop though ;D

Re: Tip Top Chop :)
Lookin' good. [thumbsup]
On my sticker holder, I cut the mounting plate about the size of the license plate leaving the bottom holes. I then mounted it to the backside of the license plate, upside down.

Re: Tip Top Chop :)
Cory, I am a big fan of pop riveting my license plate/ins. sticker plate onto the bike. Had a plate swiped many years ago (probably just a punk with too much time on his hands...) in a parking lot because of the big reflector "bolts" and wing nuts. Have been pop riveting them on ever since. Use 3/8s inch rivets and some 3/8s rivet washers if you need them. If you don't have access to a pop rivet gun let me know, you can use mine or I will bring it to our next get together and we can do it then. Takes all of two minutes. Looks sano and it's not going anywhere!

Re: Tip Top Chop :)
Sorry no camera no pic. It's a real clean look. All that shows on the plate side is a little button head of the rivet. How often do you need to take your plate off anyway? Besides, if you need to remove it all you have to do is drill out the offending rivet... no big deal. Next time we are together on bikes check out my plate/rivet job. Like I said, it is d**n secure and not going anywhere plus looks good IMO. Both you guys are welcome to borrow my pop rivet kit anytime.

Re: Tip Top Chop :)
I bought some LED bolt lights I don't have them on yet but they will look much better than those 12 cent reflectors, and they will light the plate.

Re: Tip Top Chop :)
Looks great Cory! Nice work [thumbsup]
I've got an aftermarket plate braket that works pretty well (think I got it off ebay or something... Maybe a Competition Werks part?)
Anyway, for the inspection sticker, I just cut a piece of sheet aluminum the size of the sticker but left a big chunk of it at the "top" that would fit behind/under the license plate.
Then I made a second piece from the sheet aluminum that was the same size as the license plate and sandwiched the inspection sticker "plate" in between the actual license plate and new aluminum back plate (the inspection sticker part held in place with... you guessed it, Duct Tape!)
Drilled four holes in the new "back plate" that lined up with the holes in the license plate, then all of it is bolted together using #6 torx nuts and bolts (with plenty of blue Loctite!) Here's a couuple of pix:
Sounds a lot more complex than it is. If your handy with tin snips and a metal file, this mod *could* be for you [laugh]
