Default Best Beach Ride From Philadelphia

After spending all of last Saturday riding in the perfect weather, it made me start to think about riding to the beach on the next nice weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a beach that is close to Philadelphia and is a (at least somewhat) pleasant ride from the city?

Also, are there any safe places to leave my baby (bike, not girl ;D) while I lay on the sand?

I go to Ocean City alot because I have friends with houses there. But I leave the bike in their driveway and my stuff inside so not too much of a help.

All depends on what beach. If DE beaches, then the way to go would be to take 95 down to Wilmington, then hop onto Rt 9. Take Rt 9 all the way down to the end (Dover); then its just a quick run on Rt 1/13/113. Rt 9 is an EXCELLENT ride ;D
If you're going to NJ beaches, then take 70 to 72 for the central beaches, or 49 to head to OC/AC.

surf city, harvey cedars and loveladies down in LBI are slower paced then the center of LBI. All that down that far down Longbeach blvd. are shore houses on the sidestreets leading to the beach. i WOULD leave my bike there and not bat an eye.

if you do do that, DO NOT go over the posted speed limit. The leo's are really tough on speeders and will pull and write you for 5 over.

i'll 2nd jesse on the north end of LBI. my folks have a house in Surf City. The streets are wide and nobody bothers you.

But i would cut off 70 on Patty Bowker Rd and into Chatsworth to grab me some 532 goodness.

on the island, there is no reason to speed, and they are strict.
on the way, through Chatsworth, there are really no speed traps, but they will clock you while driving in the other direction.

Thanks for all of the responses. I went to Ocean City NJ on Saturday (although it got really cold as soon as I arrived), but I'm hoping to try your LBI suggestions later this summer.
