Default The XR is a tank

so on my way in this morning, on 76W, i look up the line of cars and see someone hard on the brakes for no apparent reason. I decide to switch lanes to avoid the line of cars slamming on theri brakes, and when i turn back forward from checking traffic to the right i see that the SUV in front of me is practically stopped. i was doing around 60 and a bit too close. i braked hard until the tire started to slide then let off and broke right. the suv came right a bit too.

thank god for bark busters.

i was prob doing around 30 or so when i hit her. her taillight was smashed, i think my handlebars are a bit bent. i recovered from the slapper that ensued and kept the bike upright.

i need better brakes (and possibly non-knobby tires) on the XR.

and i'm sure it wouldn't hurt if i slowed down and left more space too :-[

Well. 1st off(& this is just MO) Buy a real dirt bike & keep the knobby tires. Driving these XRs & other Dual purpose bikes can be a blast when U have good street tires on them.

Glad your ok,, & it doesnt soung like the XR suffered to much damage.

I have been very tempted to put street tires on my 450 yfz & go play on the go kart track. But,, I would rather ride in the dirt with the "DIRT" bike. & ride on the street with the monster,,,once again,,, just my 2 cents.

Glad you alright man. How much rubber do you have left on those tires anyway? Some nice SM rims and a larger rotor up front would do the trick What's wrong with a little more debt anyways?

nice job saving it!

Had a similar issue on a random road in NJ two years ago. Minivan just stopped for no reason. I locked up the rear and went down into a ditch on the side of the road. Had knobbies on my KTM LC4 400 at the time. Would dropped it in the ditch with street tires. But also might have stopped in time without the need to go offroad...

Bark Busters are great! Would have broken my fingers a bunch without them!

Travis, glad you kept the rubber side up! [thumbsup]

I guess nobody listens to me when I tell 'em to quit with the crashing already, eh? :

that's what i was getting at...it needs to go the way of the supermoto. however, on those snowy days i enjoy the knobbies.
also, the price went up about $300 since i last looked at that kit.

thanks for the well wishes everyone.
