My speedometer/gauge cover cracked....

So I'm not sure if it's weather related but I came out one day and noticed that I had a small crack on the glass/plastic(?) covering the speedometer. Now the other one is cracked. I know it's not vandalism cause there's not scratches or debris or anything around the damaged area. Does anyone know if I can just get the covering replaced or do I have to replace the whole thing?

Re: My speedometer/gauge cover cracked....

you have to replace the whole kit-n--kaboodle. i believe it is now around $700

mine cracked a long while ago, but i didn't do anything about them and now the lcd screens are messed up.

somethign that might work for you if the outer rings are still in tact is this.
get some plexiglass and some clear silicone caulk.
just cut out the clear plastic cover around the inside of the black part. cut a piece of your plexi to the right size and run the caulk around the edge. make sure you don't use too much or it might drip down on your gauges and do something bad to them (plus it will just be unsightly)

let it dry and check to make sure that the top part hasn't come loose. if it has then caulk it up.

That blows chunks. $700 cause my glass cracked. You have any idea why yours cracked?

At first I thought it was vandalism but once the other one cracked I doubted it.

$700

Is that for the solid gold guage cluster??

An optimist sees a glass that's half full
A pessimist sees a glass that's half empty
An engineer see a glass that's twice as big as it needs to be

mine cracked because the bike got powerwashed and then put in the sun to dry. some water got under the glass, expanded, and since it was in direct sunlight i can only assume everything was warmed up and that weakest point. both of them cracked.

they used to be around $400 and i never bought one despite being told that it won't pass inspection because you cant' read the mileage. there's no way in hell i'm buying a new one now.

Re: My speedometer/gauge cover cracked....

you could get a broken dash/one on ebay and just switch out the glass part

Re: My speedometer/gauge cover cracked....

you could probably just get some lexan or glass cut at a glass shop and do it yourself, it can't be that hard.
the only thing i could see being a bitch is that it may be sealed, so getting it apart might be tough. other than that, all you need is soem fish tank glue/silicone and you'd be fine installing the glass

I switched it out on mine after my bike was brutally attacked by a corolla
