anyone crashed his ducati?
i've been riding for roughly 10 years. san francisco, maui and honolulu. i've had some close calls, but fortunately have never crashed or even dropped my bike. although i ride pretty defensively, i'm wondering if this is rare? most fellow motorcyclists tell me it is inevitable that i crash.
how long have you been riding and how many times have you crashed?

Re: anyone crashed his ducati?
I've been riding since 1967. Been down 3 times, mostly in the early 70's. 2 minor low sides on Tantalus. One major roll a Kawasaki 750 H2 into a ball at 70 something mph off the end of road around the end of the runway before there was a reef runway. That was the worst. Almost ate the rear end of some non- descript Japanese car a couple of weeks ago coming down the Pali Hwy when the driver changed lanes into me. That shook me up a bit but the Monster came through it. Extremely spooky for a couple of seconds though.

Re: anyone crashed his ducati?
glad to hear you're ok after that pali incident. sounds scary.
my near-death experience last year was riding dh down kapiolani in the left lane...usps van in center lane (to right/front of me), without warning or signal, swerves directly in front of me to make a left turn into yanagi sushi. i nearly shit my pants, skidding within inches....
i pulled over and people had to restrain me from killing the bastard.

Re: anyone crashed his ducati?
got my first street bike in 98, right when I moved here. It was a beautiful, brand new blue katana 600. I dropped that thing in the parking lot a bunch of times. One time, forgot my disc lock. The other times my foot slipped on oil, or leaves, or some other odd debris. Never at speed, though, knock on wood. That's why I always dismount when moving my bike around in the parking lot. I learned by less well.
Oh, I forgot, I tipped over on the 695, but the bar ends barely kissed the pavement. I got lucky.
Anyway, as the saying goes, there are motorcyclist who've gone down and those that will. I'm hoping all these incidents count as the former.

Re: anyone crashed his ducati?
I got it over with the month after I got my Monster. It was restored to factory condition and is now ready for the next crash.

Re: anyone crashed his ducati?
I've crashed so many times. Not with the Duc though. Worst was about 10 years ago, suv ran a red light, I T-boned him, helmet saved my life, even though I was knocked out cold for about 5 minutes. Broken bones, concussion, metal plate in my hand.
I did drop my old 916 once. One of those slow motion ones, at 0 mph, fought it all the way down. >

Re: anyone crashed his ducati?
I almost dropped my monster one Sunday morning while on my way to meet Rick at the sports park in Waipio. Came up to a stop light at the Waikeli outlet mall, stopped the bike and WHOOSH! out goes my left foot from under me. Guess there was some oil there or something that I did not see. Luckily I kept the bike from going down but DAMN it startled the hell out of me.
