Default Radial Valves

. . . and what's up with radial valves? Everytime I read about the MV Agusta they note that it has radial valves. I didn't understand how the actuation was any different than a DOHC set up, so I looked at a few pics on Google. The heads still look the same to me. The reason I'm asking now, though, is because I see that BMW will launch a sportbike with radial valves and I'm still curious how they work and what the advantage is.

Here you go.

It sounds like it is in the layout of the valves. Rather than being side by side in the top of the cylinder head it sounds like they are situated in an arc or radius apart from each other. Probably like more of a hemispherical head. Remember the Chrysler Hemi's? Anyway that's how I interpret it.

radial valve cut is when the cut of valve and seat are at a arc and not the normal 3 angle

Pictures of this layout are in the April '08 issue of Sport Rider (Green Kawasaki liter bike on the cover). They do a test of the new HP2. Shows angled cut cam lobes. Wow. You have to look closely.
