Motorcycle festival roars on to Crescent Street August 5-6
Distribution Source : Canada NewsWire
Date : Monday, August 01, 2005
MONTREAL, Aug. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - Fresh off its phenomenal success when the Formula One four-wheelers arrived in the city in June, Crescent Street, the soul of Montreal's downtown core, is set to rock with the two-wheeled set. Crescent Street is playing host to its first ever MotoFest, a two-day event combining freestyle motocross demonstrations, motorcycle and parts displays and rock concerts, August 5-6.
Organized by promoter Brian Fogt of BBF Promotions & Events, in collaboration with the Crescent Street Merchants Association, MotoFest is designed to cater to families, fans of all ages, and motorcyclists of all genres. Visitors, for instance, are sure to be enthused by the 20-minute freestyle demonstrations by the Coors Light Suzuki Freestyle Motorcross team taking place 3 times per day during the festival.
The show, which includes a jump ramp, 53-foot landing trailer and a dazzling display of light, music and smoke, features a three-man team composed of freestyle wizards Benoit Milot of Yamachiche, Quebec, Jeff Banks of Campbell River, B.C., and Justin Johansen of Salt Lake City, Utah, performing breathtaking aerial manoeuvres.
There's also plenty for chopper fans, recreational drivers and performance bike lovers, whose interest will be piqued by the various bike demonstrations, showbike displays and the latest trends presented by parts manufacturers. And just to make sure riders feel welcome, free bike parking has been reserved to provide space for an impromptu Show and Shine.
Capping the party are musical performances by some of Canada's hottest cover bands. On Friday, the Coors Light stage, at the corner of de Maisonneuve and Crescent, welcomes Young Souls at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Counterclock performs at 12:15 p.m., Rock Train Lady follows with its Top 40 hits at 6:30 p.m., and Bayou Boys end with a tribute to CCR at 9:00 p.m. Soundbeat Radio DJ Felipe Capri completes the musical program with performances at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
"In the city of summer festivals, MotoFest is the first of its kind. Crescent Street will be playing host to an outdoor motorcycle event over two days, catering to all types of bikes and featuring a freestyle motocross show by some of the world's best riders," said event promoter Brian Fogt, the inspiration behind MotoFest, as well as the promoter of the highly popular Grand Prix festivities on Crescent in June.
"We want Montrealers to discover the amazing world and many styles of motorcycles in the friendly ambiance that Crescent Street bars and restaurants have to offer. We also want to put together a show that will be spectacular and memorable for all who attend."
MotoFest 2005, presented by Coors Light and sponsored by Parts Canada, will see the top half of the Crescent Street block used for the take-off and landing ramp of the Coors Light Suzuki Freestyle Motocross team, while the lower end leading to Ste-Catherine Street will be devoted to Parts Canada display tents and numerous other manufacturers and exhibitors presenting their latest motorcycles, gears and fashions.
"Crescent Street is the heart and soul of downtown Montreal, and we are delighted to welcome motorcyclists to our street and contribute to the city's outstanding reputation as the host of festivals of all types," said Bernard Ragueneau, the President of the Crescent Street Merchants Association. "Our stores, bars and restaurants are among the finest in the city, and we're sure that festival goers and participants will enjoy the vibrancy and unique joie-de-vivre that abounds on Crescent Street."
The festival will open at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and wrap up at 11:00 p.m. following the concerts on the Coors Light stage. Motorcycle- related merchandise will be on sale on the street throughout the festival.
Montrealers and festival-goers can consult the complete schedule of events and more by going online at www.montrealnow.com and on-site media contact, August 5 & 6: Johanne Lépine

I'm going to breakfast at Holt Renfrew around 10, I'll be there by 11 or so. Lets try to park together; you can't miss my bike, it has my name on it
