Default thinking of moving to N Carolina

Any Duc owners have any opinions on the area? We are tired of So Cal and are thinking of relocating. I have heard good things about the Carolinas. Housing looks affordable and the weather seems decent. Anyone want to chime in? How is the riding?

There are a few DMLers down that way. Talk to Ramses. He's down at UNC.

Depending on what part of the state you're looking at, the weather can vary greatly. Housing is very affordable for the most part.

I've called Chapel Hill home for quite a while now and I really like it here. The riding's pretty good as there're a lot of backroads not too far from wherever you might be.

Coming from Cali you might be left looking for more though since we don't have canyon roads everywhere you turn. (But if you're in the western part of the state you're pretty close to Deal's Gap.)

And damnit Pokee, you know Rameses has two e's in it. :P

We are looking near Asheville for now. We like the trees and mountains. I can handle the weather. So far I have seen some really nice houses for 350 or so. I'm not sure what the wages are like there ( I do landscaping ) but we could pay for our house outright so a mortgage won't be an issue. We are hoping to go in a few months. Hope to find some good Monster riding folks out there.

Send a PM to DMLer Norm. He lives out that way.

And you're not too far from Deal's Gap there. [thumbsup]

Carolinas are great. Especially asheville area. I used to live in Nor Cal so I know what you mean about getting out of CA. I've ridden Mulholland and the canyons a few times with the guys from DML down in SOCAL. Great bunch. Greenville wages are probably better than Asheville, but Asheville is more for twisties. My fiance and I vacation in ASheville atleast once a year up at Grove Park inn. Holler if you have any Q's
Good luck

I live in the Raleigh area and yes there are some nice roads out towards Chapel Hill and further west. I'm sure Asheville has some great rides especially along the Blueridge Parkway. I don't think that the economy is as progressive in Asheville as it is here in the Raleigh area.

I work for a grading and utility contractor and I can tell you that there is plenty of new landscape installation to be had. We are building subdivisions like crazy.

I live in Hendersonville and work in Asheville. Twisties everywhere! Housing is the biggest expense here but it sounds like that isn't a problem for you. Post or PM me if you have any specific questions.

I've been thinking about relocating to NC and I wanted to ask everyone who's from there a question. I've heard lots of good stuff about it down there (I'm in NJ right now) so I was wondering if someone could tell me some of the BAD things about living down there.

I'm looking in the triangle area, maybe Carey or Apex. A nice community where I can move all of the family, and still make a good dollar, and have some nice roads and outdoor activities at my disposal.

Give me your fair opinions of the negatives to what seems like a great state ok?

jimi

Oh yeah one last thing, are there any good Ducati dealers down there at all, and if so who are they.
