Default Dead Rider in SF

This was posted to another list, I belong too... Did or does anyone know who this was?

Not to add a total downer, but my friend Taffy just
died this weekend. She was a new rider, and was riding
a bike that was probably just too much for her. Not
sure of the exact model, but it was a Ducati racing
bike. We're not sure of the exact details of the
accident (she was alone when she crashed), but police
report says it looks like she hit rough road on
Division under the freeway, tried to accelerate to
power out of a turn, lost control, and was thrown off
the bike. She died on impact. My fried Gwyd, who's a
very expereiced rider & knew her & her bike well,
says that that particular Ducati, which is really made
for track racing more than street riding, has a narrow
turning radius and, since she was not a very
experienced rider, she probably over-throttled trying
to gain power.

At her funeral last Friday a lot of people got up and
talked about how much she loved riding, and how much
she loved her bike, and even her parents didn't say
anything bad about her love for speed--they talked
about how much she loved life, and how they know she
died doing something she loved. They showed a slide
show of her life while people spoke, and there were
some pictures in it of her on the Ducati, with a big
giant smile. I thought it was pretty amazing that
having just lost their only daughter that they could
still realize that she was doing somemthing she
lovved, and not be angry at her bike friends, and at
her love of motorcycles.

Still . . . made me want to be sure all my riding
friends stay safe! And of course this only pushes back
my husband's feelings about my getting a bike. I mean,
as a dispatcher he knows the dangers, and he's never
been super happy about it, and this doesn't change
anything on a reality level, but it just brings it
that much closer to home.

Ride safe y'all!

That is a very sad story and good in some ways.
I am very sorry for your loss. I don't know of anything harder than losing a friend. May we all go down doing what we love.
