Default Hit & Run @ Whole Foods in Arlington

So I parked my monster at whole foods on Wilson Blvd to do a little grocery shopping last night. Came out after about 20 minutes and the bike was on its side. Some asshole backed into. I had a witness but the witness said he saw the lady who hit it writing something down so he thought she was leaving a note. So, he didn't get the plates. I didn't get a note. Not much damage, a little scratch where the metal meets the carbon fiber on the termi and a scraped up rear break lever.

Still it's the principle of the thing. I talked to the manager and they don't have cameras in the lot. Bummer.

Thanks. I think my huge napolean bar end mirrors saved me. There was broken tailight plastic all over the ground where it appeard she had hit me and it looked like it hit my mirror.

I hear ya on the 'principal of it all' As you may have already seen in another thread, my bike has been knocked down twice right in front of my apartment while I wasn't home. no witness, no evidence and no note. First more damage than the second, but damage none-the-less.

Just boils me that people are so careless. Careless about hitting it, and careless about owning up to their mistake. I bet whoever it is in each case, wouldn't appreciate me damaging something of several thousand dollar value of theirs, and then just walking off without so much as an apology....geez

You know, I am aware that alarms in general are semi-useless... and alarms on motorcycles perhaps even moreso... but they DO seem to keep people a bit more honest.

At least in my case, my bike was knocked over and I came outside (semi-dressed :-X ) since my pager alarm was going off. And the lady was nice, apologetic, and was indeed writing a note.... but would she have noticed or written it had there been no alarm? It was early in the morning so there certainly wasn't anyone around. Who knows...

Of course it also could've been that she had her young son with her and he apparently had been pointing it out to her excitedly before they got in the car (how she STILL managed to hit, only God will ever know...).

But I think it might something to think about. At least with a pager you have a better chance of being able to run outside and perhaps catch a glimpse of the perpetrator.

Heres the deal with this case. Because she did not leave a note, you can have her charged with "leaving". In addition to that it is in your right to get an repair estimate. The repair estimate will more than likely read "frame tear-down" and "frame damage". You can file a claim against her for about 5 grand. I had the same thing happen to me and I got a big fat check in the mail!

The witness told me it was a "her" who hit my bike. The witness didn't get the drivers tags because he thought that she was leaving a note... but she didn't.

I did end up reporting this to the police... even though I'm pretty sure nothing will ever come from it.
