I'm sure that plenty of people are going to tell you to ping Donnie Unger at Duc Pond Motorsports in Winchester. He will give you a fair price and you'll know exactly what you're buying. He may not necessarily have a used one right now, but he is always turning over his inventory and always has plenty of bikes in on consignment. I'd recommend talking to them first.

If you don't want to work through a dealer, craigslist and cycletrader are your best bets for being able to do local searches.

So why an S2R1000? What do you consider a good deal? - Gene

While I know there is a bias against CPS here, Ben Beers (coolasice on the board) in Woodbridge treated me right and knows his stuff.

Not true, I don't think there is a bias. Ther have been posts about experince though and most of those from the sales side have been great and most of those on the service side have not been so good. I have had a realtionship with CPS all the way back to 1983 when it was Cycles Inc. Bought three motorcycles from them and the service on those bikes were not up to par. I still stop by CPS frequently and purchase a lot of stuff, I just won't let them service my bike, therefore I won't buy one from them, I will buy it from a dealer that I know will service it correctly and if that means I pay a little more so be it. The profit on a new Ducati is very low and unfortunately the smaller shops can not afford to cut into that margin. On a personal level I like most of the guys at both CPS locations and for sure Falls Chruch has been a major supporter of the Ducati brand and we are lucky to have such a shop, I try to show my appreciation by buying stuff from them. Some have even had a good servce experience, but frankly I don't think the service department cares as much about it's customers as some of the smaller shops. - Gene
