First 6k service overdue, help!

Trying to decide to try and do this service myslelf or have it done. I live in Surprise and the closest place I can find is what used to be phoenix international motorsports at 7th and Bethany. Has anyone done this service themselves on their first Ducati? How long did it take, troubles? I hear the cost is 350-400$ I am leaning to think that it would be worth the peace of mind to do it right. But I would like to same some money if possible.

The bike in question is a 2003 Monster 800 Dark.

Any advice?

Ps. being my first bike, I have no "bike tools" but I do have many auto tools and have heard I can use two jack stands instead of buying a bike stand.

if you are still under warranty you should definately go to the dealer.
