Did anyone go on this ride (I was at work)? How did it go? Beautiful day to be riding, from what I could see out of the window.

Didn't go, but I just received this in an e-mail from AZSBK:

"Thanks to all of you that participated in our ride on Saturday. It is unfortunate that we did suffer an accident on that ride. Let me take this opportunity to express our thoughts. It is unfortunate that the accident happened and our condolences go out to the rider, passenger and their family's. There were reports from others on the ride that speeds from some, were excessive. This is unacceptable riding for our rides. These ride are meant for enjoyment not as a stunt show or a race. Stunts, excessive speed, and crashes ruin an enjoyable ride for everyone else. If you chose to ride like that. We ask that you do not attend these rides. Our rides are meant to be opportunities to gather together with other riders for camaraderie and an enjoyable ride. Once again we appreciate your involvement and hope that the actions of a select few will not tarnish our ride club events. Look for our next ride club event on March 8Th..."

Doesn't sound good.

I can't belive that things like that happen, but I've learned that the best thing to say sometimes is:

No comment. :-\

Didn't go on the ride... I wont comment on why... But from what I heard it was a couple that I guess noone really knew or seen before and they, or I should say the person in control of the bike, went into a corner too hot and didn't make the corner... I'm sympathetic to the passenger who I guess was injured much worse than the rider, but hopefully the rider and whomever witnessed what happened will let it sink in that motorcycles aren't toys and it's very easy to get over your head... Ride your own ride and be safe out there people... Not sure about what gear they were wearing, but gear up also... [thumbsup]

Those rides are cursed. I have been on two in the past, one to Prescott and one to Roosevelt lake and someone crashed on both of those rides.

Actually, I think that was the Prescott ride of which Charles speaks. As I recall, an older guy an ST went off near the bottom of Yarnell. Does anyone else remember differently? ???

I love AZSBK, but their rides scare me for some reason.

Was that the same one? I remember the older guy crashing going up to Prescott. I am talking about a Sedona one where I tried to convince the ride leader that 89 and 89A were two different roads. Didn't believe me, so I just shut my yap and went along for the ride. We ended up just south of the Grand Canyon.

That was Rob's dad that went down. Nothing serious, Dwain went one way with half the riders and the other half I thought followed you on 89A Maureen. As I remember it.
