so i have a genuine Harley Davidson "Daymaker" LED projector in my chopper and i love the light output. i also have two Ducati Monsters, one equipped with a PIAA H4 in a metal bucket and one with a xenon kit in a plastic bucket. the PIAA is garbage compared to the LED and Xenon, but thats not their fault. to me, the complexity of the xenon kit isnt worth the hassle, so it had to go.
ive been looking at the Motodemic and Corse Dynamics adaptor rings, but having just purchased this S4RS and spending about $1,400 on parts for it, i couldnt quite afford to pull the $400-500 trigger. through a lot of searching i found a fellow rider who had made himself an adaptor ring with his 3D printer to utilize standard 7" headlights. i contacted him about making me one and he sent me one the next day
due to the demand i feel this might generate, i will not use his name. i will, however, e-mail him a link to this thread so if you guys want them, and are willing to pay for them, speak up.
anyway, on to the lamp itself. if you want one, look here:

its basically a Chinese JW Speaker 8700 made by an outfit called "Sunpie" i read some reviews from Jeep owners and i figured id give it a shot. i could have probably gotten one MUCH cheaper, but i try to buy from USA based sellers due to the shipping times and customs fees. so, a fella in Cali had them, and i paid $78 shipped. thats the total cost i paid for the whole project. $78. the Corse Dynamic adaptor ring runs $100 and supposed to work with any 7" lamp, and Motodemic wants $120 for their adaptor ring(which i prefer the finish of) and its only known to work with the 8700 Evo 2. i paid $78 for the lamp and the kind gentleman who made the ring sent it to me for free because he wanted to know if it would work.
it worked! the spring clips were a PITA because of the thickness of the adaptor ring and the thickness of the alloy heatsink body of the lamp itself. i was only able to use 4-6 of the spring clips to hold the lamp in place, but it seems pretty secure to me.
yes, the ring is pink. must have been what he had in the printer at that time, and i didnt want to paint it in case it didnt work and i sent it back to him or otherwise just wasted money on paint and threw it away.
