In need of DP Alarm Install Instructions, please help...

Ok, I have my bike at the dealer, and they do not know what harness to plug the alarm into.

I have a 2012 796 ABS and the DP performance alarm. I have not found any instructions online and the alarm did not come with any.

Does anyone have access to this information, or can anyone tell me what harness it is, so I can tell the dealer?

Thank you, in advance, for any help that anyone can be in this matter...

This may sound weird but is it a Ducati dealer? and if so shouldn't they really know that?

I am not going to name it, but yes it is. The bad part is that the package that came from Ducati does not have instructions in it.

Funny thing is, even if they follow the proper connection instructions you'll have the orange "check engine" light lighting up whenever you reach the Rev.limiter, fun no ?

The DP alarm needs a different connection routing than the one described in the official instruction sheet, again, fun no ?

Ask me how i know...

Dem quirky Italians xD

I think I remember seeing a post where you spoke of this. Do you happen to know what plug/harness needs to be utilized? If not, then can you find out from the person that did it for you? I really appreciate it if you can.

Gasa, haven't got the slightest idea regarding the work-around, i'd have to ask my mechanic so...

Listen mate, i could scan the alarm instructions if you want, don't know if that helps...

Now - and please don't get me wrong - i think that's inexcusable for an authorized dealer not knowing how to mount/connect the darned thing, also, did they e-mailed Ducati so that they could mail them back with the instructions ?

Again, if you really need it/are in a rush, i could always mail you the instructions like i said.

Cheers

Thank you,

Needless to say I feel they dropped the ball on this one. I did source the manual from another dealer, in another state, which they could have done as well. I have found that not all dealers are the same, let's put it that way.

Thank you again.

If anyone needs this manual I have it backed up digitally.

Thank you,

The dealer was not able to get it to work. I am going to attempt to install it on my own tomorrow. I will update with the final outcome.

I did the install today, and the alarm did not work.

When I installed the alarm it did not chirp or respond in any way when the key fob was used. The unit was getting power; I could hear feedback when the ground was hooked up to the battery. The only thing that happened was the headlight turned on and would not turn off until I disconnected the alarm.

I pulled the alarm apart and checked all the connections, it all checked out ok. I am not sure what is wrong with the unit but it is not working. I have heard that this unit has a tendency to have problems such as this, where it just does not function properly.

I am going to attempt to return the item, but at this point I am being told that because it is an electronic device they do not warrantee it. I have to talk to the parts manager on Monday. If I do not get anywhere with them I am going to try Ducati.

Now what makes this complicated is that I ordered the Alarm from a Ducati dealer in Jersey, and had my Ducati dealer here do the install. The reason that I went with the Jersey dealer was because of the price, however now I am questioning my choice. I am hoping that they are able to help me with the item, but I have a bad feeling that I may just end up eating it.
