Default "Does it fit?"

I noticed while looking at the Houston Superbike website that the QD exhaust for the 796 and 1100 EVO have the same part number. This got me to thinking...could I fit the 1100 EVO exhaust onto my 796? And say put a nice short exhaust can on the end instead of the stock 1100EVO exhaust of course.

Anyone want to chime in? If I get a pro opinion from this I'm doing it since I always loved the side exhaust and wanted boom tubes but it seems they have gone the way of the unicorn.

Not a clue on if a 1100 exhaust will fit or not although I'd like to know te answer myself, but if you like the way boom tubes look contact your local exhaust professional and have him make you a custom exhaust then get a reflash afterwards. That's my next step

I'd love to be able to get a 1100 EVO style exhaust on the 796 with a proper silencer. There probably needs to be some custom fitting though, since the 1100 EVO exhaust hanger is different. From all I've read the H competition exhausts and boomtubes are too loud for my taste even with baffles (i.e. need ear plugs).

Go to ducatimcparts.com and check the size of the exhaust gaskets on the head to see if they are the same part#. I was tying to get and exhaust for a 696 I was building up and found the 1100 had the same gasket, bought an 1100 exhaust online and it fit. The tubes are slightly bigger but the inliet to the head and the flanges were the same, and I just had to remove the cable for the shutter valve. It's a good way to check if the pipes will fit the head, the rest will be up to you to take a little risk. I'm sure you can find the pipes on e bay for about $200 for the set

UPDATE: Finally sourced a complete 2012 1100evo exhaust and will be installing (trying to at least) the parts in a few weeks. I won't be using the 1100evo cans but a competition werks exhaust instead. I'll post up pics of the build ASAP. I'm also going to put on the 1100evo rearsets as they were thrown in :-)

The exhaust will come in tomorrow and by the end of the week I will do a test fit. I will post pics as soon as I start test fitting.
