Default My modified 696

I thought I would share with everyone my Monster 696. It's taken a while to get it to this point (lack of time more than anything) - but while not as extreme as some, I love it.

A short summary of the updates (front to rear) -

Carbon front mudguard (Carbonworks)
Smoked screen
Ducati 'Low' Performance Seat
Rizoma reverse retro mirrors and bar ends
Custom 2-->1 exhaust with SC Projects Moto2 Ti silencer
Evap canister delete
Metal Tech rear sets
Rizoma passenger pegs (one side only)
Carbon rear hugger (Ducati)
Short tail kit - (Ducati)
Rim tape
Ducati Corsa foam decals on front / rear mudguards
Motovation front, rear and frame sliders

Exhaust sounds great - still running a baffle in it but now it sounds like a Ducati should!

Next steps are Power Commander (running a touch lean I think) and a Shorai Battery.

Likely a 25 - 30lbs weight reduction between exhaust and battery.

Let me know what you all think!

Looks great man! Could you give more info on the exhaust? I really like it.

Also, what is that part you replaced where your exhaust can is mounted to? That doesn't look like the stock silver metal arm.

Exhaust 2 --> 1 was made by a guy in Indianapolis called Ricky Howerton. He normally builds race car exhausts including those used by many teams at the Indy500. Quality is unbelievable.

The can is from SC Projects, their GPM2 Ti can, I used the one from a GSXR600/750.
http://www.sc-project.com/suzuki_gsx...750_2008_e.htm

They do one for the 1100EVO as a direct replacement if you have one of those

The exhaust hanger was the passenger foot peg kit from Rizoma

http://www.rizoma.com/en/products-bi...-pegs-kit.html

I only used one side, removed the pegs etc. I looked at many ways of doing supporting the exhaust including designing my own, but this worked out perfectly. I had to move one of the mounting holes to suit my rearsets but if you use the Rizoma ones then it should be easy

I then found a local exhaust fabricator who made a short link pipe from the silencer to the exit of the 2-->1. I later found out he also did custom exhausts for people like Pro-Italia (if you are in the LA area).

I will see if I can post a movie so you can hear what it sounds like - I have only run with the baffle in and it is loud!

I have attached a dyno run of his exhaust (on his own bike) against Termi's and stock. He said he did not retune so I imagine more could be had. I think he gains at top end (and looses mid range) due to the short length.

Looks awesome...

Definitely go with power commander and a new intake setup... The mwr kit looks nice and is supposed to make some good power..

My 696 dynoed ad 72-73hp with a power commander/tune, pod filters/velocity stacks, and exhaust. It was an ok tune, done by a Harley guy who wasn't familiar with ducs... I think a Ducati tuner could of gotten a few more hp

Power Commander V and MWR intake sat on the shelf in the garage - hopefully get to fit this weekend.

I ran it last weekend without the baffle - big difference, much deeper sound but soooo loud. I am not sure the local law enforcement would appreciate it as much as I do!

I like the contrast the rim tape gives

I think you should take off the vin# from the frame kind've stands out on the black-on-black.

Where did you get the smoked screen?

the screen came from ebay....you too can have one like mine: -

I have thought about removing the stickers on the frame but am worried that if I ever sell the bike it is missing relevant information / confirmation numbers - anyone have an opinion on this? Does it matter?
