Default Longer (and cheaper) side stand

I have just finished my longer side stand project. I couldn't get a Cycle Cat stand so I ordered a 2006 Ducati Sport Classic Sport 1000DS stand (used) from ebay for $75. I'm sure there will be more later at even cheaper prices.

I used the Sport Classic stand which is about an inch (25mm) longer than the original and is made of alloy instead of steel.

I mounted the side stand to my original stand mount and then added the Sport Classic springs and presto!

The retracted position.

Clearance to exhaust is important - not enough and your stand will stick out too far

nice! Much cleaner looking piece. How did you know the sport classic stand would fit? Will any of the late model alloy legs fit monster mounting brackets?

Thanks for the info. I waited for months for the Cycle Cat piece only to be told recently they are not available anymore. Until now, and after reading your post, there is new hope.
My S2R 1000 looks like it is about to fall over once I raised the rear to suit my weight and swing arm setup.

I took my stand off and took it down to the bike shop and compared. I just took a look at the mounting set up and took a gamble it would fit. Turned out to be right. If the height is still a little low you can also space your mount out from your bike and it will add height. My Monster is a 2000 900 so I'm guessing most pre 2000 models will be similar. I'm not sure about later ones but it's worth a look. I also ground a little extra metal of the bracket where the stand retracts to allow it to sit higher up when retracted. There is only a couple of mm you can remove though.

As for late Model Monster legs I'm not sure if they are longer or not. The ST3 stand is longer and doesn't have the odd kink the early ST2's and ST4's had. The Sport Classic is a perfect fit.

Happy hunting.

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you just took your stock stand down to the Ducati shop and compared till you found one that may work.
Grinding a little off with a Dremel is no big deal.
Thanks, Dale

Default Longer is better

Very nice. It looks like the original steel one must have been pretty heavy.

I have a 2006 S2R1000 and I believe the sidestand you used is the same as what comes stock on the S2R1000. I don't have a pic of my bike, but I do have one of another S2R1000. Looks the same to me (which sucks because I could use a longer one).
