Default I want that deep Ducati Sound

You guys have a great forum here. It's taken me 3 weeks of reading and searching to even get caught up enough to post. Yup, I'm a new guy to your forum. I've been wrenching and riding for too many years but this is my first Ducati I actually own, though I've always wanted one. I have other street bikes to ride (and offroad machines) so this one doesn't have to do everything. I 'acquired' a very nice 97M750 after the client wasn't able to pay for work done on it. I ended up negotiating for the title. It's got 3000km on it (not a typo) and it's completely stock. Wow. It's taken me awhile to get it all sorted out (fluids, seals, belts, valves, tires, jetting) but I have a really nice running stock machine now. However, it just doesn't have enough of that classic Ducati sound I've heard from others. My intent is to use this machine to bomb around on and enjoy the fat midrange torque and the sounds it makes (both intake and exhaust) for an afternoon, or evening. I don't need to create extra torque. If I want to go faster, or hit the track, I can use another bike.
So here is the question. How do I get that really deep, low, bass sound out of it? I'm after Quality sound...not quantity. I've read all about the 1/2 core mod (and full core mod) and am considering this but since I cannot go back to stock after the mod....I'm worried. I don't want something that sounds like a clapped out noise maker, or a rattle can. Nor do I want to create an exhaust system that is full of flat spots and becomes a jetting nightmare. No one seems to mention how the cored exhaust affects the jetting or if it throws torque away for noise.
Has anyone heard the difference between a nice straight through glass packed exhaust (any slip on...they all have the same basic design), and a simple backyard core job?
Will I be happy with the sound or should I go for some aftermarket slip ons?..which one gets subjective again. Sorry about the long post and yet another cored exhaust question but I'm excited to hear your opinions. I'm sure you guys have heard tons of different bikes.

For your route of passage, i'd recommend a pair of aftermarket slip-ons like you mentioned. Theres quite a variety out there, so its all about what style you prefer (exit and silencer shape). I'm a dedicated Termignoni fan all the way, but its all about you bud.

If you want to spend the $ go for the aftermarket stuff. I considered this too until I cored the cans (with the help of some great posts here) and am glad I did. Saved some green and got a sound that is loud enough, breathes better and is distinctive unto the Duc. My S2R 800 runs and sounds better than most aftermarket stuff in my opinion...and I had the $ to buy a new helmet !!!.

If you want that deep roar, install Beast velocity stacks with K&N filters. I have some for sale on the classifieds.

I really don't think you can beat Termignoni, but they are pricey... I had them on my last monster. My current bike has Leo Vince high mounts, which don't have as deep of a sound. Here is a video of my exhaust:

Thanks guys. I never dreamed people would have videos of their bikes on the net. A few searches found quite a few videos. Now I've got more time to kill on the computer.
JynToxic S4Rs, I like that...It's all about me. Can you talk to my wife? For some reason she doesn't get it.
Adem, thanks for the link, and the time you spent posting a video. Nice setup. I like those high pipes, look nice, sound nicer.
Mad5757, My Husaberg has a very deep intake roar, I'm after a low exhaust sound when downshifting...upshifting too...well you know. Thanks, but no thanks right now.
Michiganduc...did you get any strange flat spots you couldn't get rid of with jetting changes? Did you even alter your jetting after coring?, sorry, fuel map changes on your bike. You're right though. I might try a core job now that I've heard some online. If I'm not happy, I like Adem's high pipe setup and the cut up stock cans won't matter too much. Hopefully the big $$$ won't cut into my tire budget too much though I'm not too keen on having more money tied up in the exhaust system than the whole bike! However, there is the sound which is starting to be the whole point of the bike.
So where can you get new termis? I'm in Canada, are they only through the dealers? Obviously used is a whole new game.

My M900sie has some sil moto high pipes and it sounds beautiful, really low rumble with an occasional backfire on downshifts I love it! I think it sounds better then the termigochi's.

You can always checkout youtube for what different exausts sound like, thats what i did.

Red face

I don't think i've honestly seen Termignoni's for sale on any website, its an in house dealer type thing (they did that on purpose)...not saying they're not out there, I just haven't searched very hard. I went through the dealer for the full kit and install...warranty niggaaa!
