Jyntoxic, I can find the Termis in my local parts books but they don't list any ducati models. I'm convinced now that termi and ducati have an agreement so that they are only sold through dealers for ducati models. The good news is the warranty. It's interesting though, the available pipes are all very similar but there is a big difference in how they sound.

ive had several ducs and several different pipes already. ive tried fast by feracci,
leo vinci and sorted out stock pipes. they all sound great. but the best set up i would think for your particular bike are the high pipes of termognoni. theyre the ones that got me into ducs in the first place. i would suggest not to settle for anything less. if only for the deep duc sound youre trying to achieve.

Thanks Monzterboy. I've left things alone with the stock quiet setup until I locate a set of Termi high pipes. As you state, they look nice and I think they will produce the sound I'm after from this bike. Thanks for confirming the sound I'm after. I know any pipe will sound great...but I'm after the deep sound. Yup, just like what got you into ducs in the first place. Have you had the high termis on my vintage monster? Will I be able to retain the passenger pegs? Will they burn my wife's ass? It's a nice one...I don't want to burn it....but I do like the high pipe look.

Why not just core or chop your stock cans and see if that's the sound you like. If it's what you want you saved yourself some serious coin, if you want something a different, I'm sure you'll still like it better than stock so you have something better for the time between now and getting the Termis. Also if you did want to go back to stock (I really doubt you would) you can pick up stock cans on here or TOB cheap. Basically you've got nothing to lose. Just my $.02.

Here's the chopped cans on my last monster...loved the sound!

Justin, Ya I think I'm going to do that on the long weekend. I held back because I didn't want it to end up sounding like a piece of shit but everyone who has cut up the cans seems to really like it. I think I'll end up following what you state as I cannot just drop 1/2 the value of the machine for the pipes right now. I think a core job, then if I want more...stumble across some real pipes. Thanks for the photo links. Those are short cans.

hey andrew96, if im guessing and reading your mind right, the reason im recommending not settling for anything less than the termi high pipes for your particular monster, is the fact that IVE NEVER HAD THEM ON, and this is one of my main frustrations up to this point.
i got myself into ducs, cos on of my mates had them on his 98 monster 900 and i just got drawn to this deep boom that it gave. but when i could afford one, my 99 monster came with fast by feracci hi pipes. and i never had enough dough to replace them with termis. now that finally i got back to a monster with the s2r1000, termis didnt have the single pipe on the side set up that i wanted , so had to settle for the leo vinci titaniums. but man, god knows that id go for a termi single pipe set up now it they offered it. so from me to you, if my guess holds true, nothing but termis to you my friend.

I actually heard one!!! I won't do a long story but this guy showed up at my training course with about an '03. Single sided swingarm, high Termis. That's what I want. It has THE sound. Too bad the guy was a bit of a knob. Bike was kept like crap. Hasn't been cleaned for too long but he did have all the cool bits on it and THE pipes. I'm not going to bother cutting up the cans. It sounded clean and deep on his bike but without some injection work he has it popping a bit on trailing throttle. I'll be able to dial my carbs in once I locate a setup like that. So now the quest is on. High termis that will fit my '97.
