Congrats on the new pipes!
I agree do not open up the airbox as it will only make popping worse..........
Same thing with removing the baffles, besides being irresponsible you will only flow more air leaning it out more and ......more popping

As you stated it sounds great right now so ............
I feel the same about my Arrow Ti with baffles, it sounds great, you can hear it coming and definitly hear it it going if on the gas but it is not so loud that it draws unwanted attention from olice: or the  .
Your best chance to have your system work with the stock tuning is to not do anything else except having your shop tweak what little they can to richen it up. I also think that pulling the O2 sensor will probably help based off of people that have done that and did a plug chop both ways. I will pull mine next time I'm in USoA and get to ride.

Every dyno I have seen that shows baffels in and baffels out of a full system there is VERY LITTLE difference in power. I think that you would realy need a built motor to be able to be able to capitalize on a full open system

go to bos-exhausts.com and look at their dynos on their systems.
Here is one, it shows stock, a full system with baffles and a full system without. It does exactly like I'd expect.
EIther of the full systems provides a good boost, the baffled system starts pulling a bit earlier, the baffle less system has a tad more on the top.
In the middle there is really no difference to speak of.................except noise........

I knew nothing of the gasket maker. It may have recommended that in the instructions but I don't read Italian.

The popping is minimal and I can live with it. If they fix it during the next service....BONUS.

Volume is the last of my concerns. My last bike, a 95 Honda Magna with Jardine straight pipes, was the loudest bike you've ever heard. It sounded like a thousand angry chainsaws.

I was going to post a pic of the Magna, but it won't let me. Try www.myspace.com/monkeyrobb

You talk like you've seen dozens of charts showing with and without baffles, but this is a rare step that most shops don't take. Gains depend on the system and size of the baffle. Not all racing venues allow fully open exhaust so manufactures offer different baffles for street and racing applications. Here's an example of a removed baffle adding 3 HP and huge gains in tq:

Sorry for the interruption, you may now continue your rant about the evils of removing baffles.

Since Ducati sells the termi kit (with ECU) for the s2r1000 separately from the cat replacement header I wonder if the ECU is calibrated to run with the cat, like the slip on kit for the S4R/RS. In that case fueling would be set leaner than a kit ECU calibrated for a full system.

So then did you use any type of sealant or did you just install the system without any sealant?

I wouldn't worry about that, I have the full DP termi kit on an 07 S2R1k with the steel collector. I'm running beast intakes which are more open than the K&N that comes with the kit and I cut down the exhaust to straighten out some of the bends and I have ceramic coat. All of these make for better airflow and my A/F is almost a flat line at 13. Oh, and I'm not running any baffles but don't tell anyone, it's very irresponsible ;D.
