The DP ECU is a whole lot better than stock, and I'm referring to acceleration and responsiveness at the top end.
But I still can't rid the bike of the occasional pop on decel. It isn't half as bad as the stock ECU for sure, but its still there. Maybe it's a leak somewhere but can't seem to find any.
I reset the TPS, synched the throttle bodies, and tried trim settings of -2, 0, +2, and +4. No access to dyno so I had to judge by feel and the plug color. +4 was way too rich but the bike would climb up to 230kph in no time at all. But it would pop on decel (occasionally) and plugs were dark brown. After that, and without resetting TPS or touching the throttle body synch, I tried trim settings of -2 to +2. AT 0, definitely an improvement in the decel pop, then tried -2 hoping it would disappear. Idling went to hell so I reset TPS and re-synched the TBs. Better. But had to bring trim up to 0 to improve the idling as it seemed raspy and seemed to struggle. I also tried changing the K&N air filter back to a clean OEM filter after the -2 trim experiment, and that made me decide to reset the synch of the TBs as the readings on the Carbtune dropped significantly. Somehow after playing around with the bypass valves, I got both readings back up to around 18 (from 12 thereabouts)
So while I'm happy with the DP ECU and the increased responsiveness of the engine with it, and not having the engine warning light on anymore...I'm a bit disappointed that my popping issues have not been completely erased. Am now considering getting a TPO Beast or Beast-R to see if increased air intake will fix the problem. If this doesn't work, well...will cross the bridge when I get there.
