Tail Chop
Hey Guys,
Sorry, but I don't like the tail chopped, I like the short fender version, in CF of course and the regular sized one. ;D
I know it's all in taste, but, I can't seem to digest the tail chop. Looks to "japanese"
Can someone tell me how to retouch the paint on a plastic tank, that by the way only holds 2.6gals of fuel when filled from empty, not the advertised 3.4gal.

DIY Tail Chop on M750....Went OK
Just finished the quick, easy, and cheap version of the tail chop. Bought the integrated LED light from Monster parts. Aside from having to figure-out the wiring, (no diagram provided...???), it went really smoothly. I used some galvanized duct metal for the light mount and license plate; bends easily and won't snap-off. Cutting the frame almost made my wife cry. But turned-out really well! Give it a try; you won't need a !@#%$#@ kit. Save your cash for gas!

Can someone please be so kind as to explain step 4 to 6 to me?
I'm not sure what function this aluminum box would do, and how it would fit, and what it would look like.
Can someone please show me using pictures their home made chop jobs?
I'd like to take this on myself, but I'm scared.
PS: I have an 2005 Monster 620
THANK YOU!

1) remove the light/blinker assembly (after taking the seat off)
2) saw the tail just before the seat latch on both sides
3) put some paint or silicone on exposed metal from saw
4) insert some kind of frame plugs (many types available at lowes/home depot or bike shops)
5) use carboard to make a template for mounting tailight and blinkers (basically a 4 sided box with a holes for tillight and blinkers)
6) trace template onto sheet aluminum
7) cut with snips (file edges smooth), drill holes out
8) bend into shape (then I painted mine black)
9) bolt everything up
10) done for a fraction and with knowledge that u did it yourself
Then break your arm patting yourself on the back....

just got a Competition Werkes for my Y2K M750, really great stuff. Paid $109, but well worth it, everything fit and went together perfectly

I swapped out the CW fender chop kit for the Rizoma fender eliminator for my 1100s. The quality of the rizoma kit is top notch and better than oem in my opinion. I'd take pics but the bike is at the dealer getting other goodies installed right now.

...just my two cents
I read numerous threads regarding this topic and decided on the COOKIE kit.
I purchased the kit about a month and a half ago and finally installed it earlier today.
I don't have any experience in DIY work and with the parts and instructions provided by PHIL, I think I did a decent job in about an hour and a half.
Bottom line, you can't go wrong with the COOKIE kit.

Do you have to cut the frame to put the Competition Werkes kit on?

After seeng the CW, the tidy tail and now my Rizoma...I vote Rizoma all the way.
Granted, I had some trouble getting everything to fit inside the kit but some of that was my inexperience on motorcycles in general and specifically my nervousness toward tearing up my brand new ducati. After finishing it up though, I'm happy I put myself through all of it.....looks great and NO MORE SHOE HORN ON MY MONSTER!
Bike is at home (I'm at work) at the moment. After I get everything cleaned up from the install (just finished it) I'll post a few pics of it.

I like the Rizoma tail locator kit; its nice cnc billeted aluminum,
and comes with a very compact US tag bracket and compact LED to iluminate the tag.
You can either get tiny little turn signals to mount to it- or an integrated taillight with turn signals
