Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
Here's my bike -- a 2004 S4R. It's the non-chopped cf tail from the DP catalog (I didn't cut the frame). To me, it cleans up the rear end a little and the carbon fiber looks better than plastic. Just thought I'd share.

Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
I dont know who's is better. I did it today after work with competion werks kit and it took only 32 minutes. I found instructions easy to follow and the diagrams came in color and very easy to see what they were decribing, I was also pleased with the quality of the parts. [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]

Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
I haven't read all the posts on this thread but I have seen a few mentions about the plugs. I find the best plugs are the plastice monster bar ends. They're not expensive and the frame has the same diameter as the standard handlebars.

Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
I got plugs at Ace Hardware. They are black plastic, made to fit a 5/8" hole -- 97 cents each. One was loose, so I put them both in with a little clear silicone on the inside edge.

Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
FYI: Just completed a tail cop on my 06 M620 with the Comp/Werkes kit and it turn out great. Had one little hitch: my sargent seat would not engage the lock. Solution: I placed two stacked washers (from the existing tail fastener which are not needed anymore) under each side the locking assembly, raising it 1/8" of an inch, and cut approx. 1/8" off the top of the turn signial brackets. This will allow the seat pillon to reseat in the locking assembly and the seat bumpers to rest on the frame. Sweet....... [thumbsup]

Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I had ordered a Pro Iltalia kit before I read all the problems everyone has had with them and was ready to send it back before I opened it. Well, a long story short... the thing bolted right up no problems! [thumbsup] [clap]
Yes, the instructions aren't exactly the best but it only took about 45 minutes and that wasn't even working quick. (drinking a beer) I could probably do another in 20 minutes flat knowing how it mounts up now. I guess everyone had problems with not having the correct screws? My kit came with 2x 8mm hex head bolts that go up thru the factory holes to provide mounting points for the turn signal brackets. Anyway, don't be scared of a tail chop. It's stupid simple, just measure twice and cut once. It's not even an ultra precise cut! Nothing else mounts up to it, just fill the holes with frame plugs after you paint then to stop any rust.

Re: Who makes the best quality tail chop kit?
Any quick instructions, or did you just have to mull it over in your head for a while before it became what it is?

I still have to fit the matching front blinkers tho... 70 Euro is a bit steep tho.. rather spend that cash ealse where on the bike for the time being.

I like the look, but not the CF. Is there anything like this that is not CF??
Also, do you have any full side pics of the bike with this kit on?
