Sounds like your friend has "squared off" his tire, by running in a straight line for too long, highway riding, etc. That's exactly what happens to any tire when you go straight for too long. They develop a flat spot through the center of the tire, and yes, very unnerving in the corners!

Yes, they did feel a little square! Just kidding. The tire profile of the Dunlop does have a pronounced edge to it, while the Pirelli is completely round. My friend's monster just got traded in on a 2010 Multi, so I cannot provide you with a photo of the Dunlop Tire profile.

All Moto sport tires are supposed to have a round profile, some are higher (Pointer) than others, but anytime you see a tire that has a flat on the curve of the profile, that tire has been riden in a straight line for too long!

Michelin Pilot Road 3's??? I have a buddy with an R1 that likes them a lot. Does super long rides a lot. I think he should own a Multi, we are working on it
I have the Q2's now and like them over the stock (2010) Pirelli Angels. But I am looking to go back to a ST tire that I can use in the hills around home. I do a bit more highway miles then usual but I do hit the twisties around here every once in a while.

I have Pirelli Supercorsas fitted to my other road bike now turned into a track bike, and the difference is incredible. Summed up best as Grip, grip, & confidence. We'll see how long they last...
Now have to decide just how much road riding I really want to do, as I now want to fit them to the monster.
