Depends on what you want it for. The 1098 is WAY more powerful and fast which wasnt a problem for me. I wanted a more commuter friendly and comfortable bike so I switched to the monster. It's plenty fast and powerful for what I need it for but have to admit I miss the raw power of the liter bike. Overall the 796 is a great bike but I am waiting for Ducati to drop the 800 version of the panigale then I will be buying that for my weekend/spirited rides. Plan to keep the monster too for the local commutes, so if you can afford two bikes thats a good route to go. If not then weigh your options and go with your gut. Later
