The only person I know who has dyno runs on 2-1 vs 2-2, is Doug L and he claims that the 2-1 loses a little power. I've made systems both ways and can't tell the difference. The general rule of thumb is that large pipes work better a WOT and smaller ones at lower and midrange. However, that is a pretty broad statement and there are about 1000 other variables. These days I step up my tubing diameters thru about 3-4 sizes, ending up at 2". I have no dyno test to prove anything, it just seemd like a good idea.
My advice would be to just make what looks appealing to you and you'll be happy.
