Now why didn't I think of that. I have some visegrips in my tool chest. I'll give that a try.
It also occurred to me that, at a last resort, I could cut the nuts off with a diamond wheel on my rotozip. The metal on the nut seems soft enough that it wouldn't be too hard.
But I'll start with the visegrips.
