PS Yeah I know the venting mechanism is not that big of a deal but my superstitions say if it falls apart going 50 what happens when I crash.

You got bad vents... Mine aren't even loose after 2 years, and I've taken my bike to terminal velocity (somewhere around 120 if you believe the speedo)
