there are just as many "unknowns with a "clean title" bike.
all a salvage title means is that an owner filed a claim and the ins. co. deemed the cost of repair to exceed value of bike.
you are just a likely to get a completely F***ed up "clean title" bike that a PO has destroyed/neglected/wrecked and didn't file a claim and is not disclosing any of this. as with the purchase of anything used, just check it out yourself (or someone trustworthy) and if it dosen't feel quite right don't be afraid to walk away....
LOL, you can even get a defective bike/car brand-new (regardless of brand they all can have defects), but at least there is some sort of warranty....LOL and sometimes NOT!
