This Month's Featured Bike:
Bill Johnson's 96 M900 TurboMonster
| My on going project bike, a 1996 Ducati M900. The bike is a 1996 Ducati M900. The bike was originally owned by a friend of mine, Chauncey, who bought the bike new in '96 with the "PCS Turbo Kit" at Dave's Cycle Service (Dave Hull) in Mesa Arizona. The bike was somewhat unstable and problematic. I got the bike in 2002 and over the past four years have rebuilt the bike and modified it extensively with the help of friends. The bike is mechanically stable now making close to 60% more horsepower
at the rear wheel than the stock M900 (even more if I adjust the wastegate).

In 2004 I switch my focus from performance to overall presentation, with entering the 1st Ducati Monster Challenge. The bike was stripped down to the ground, so the frame could be powder coated. Then slowly reassembled so every component could be cleaned and evaluated. The bike needed the rebuild and the Monster challenge was a good excuse. I entered the 2004 Long Beach Monster Challenge, its very first motorcycle contest, and took first place.

Early in 2006 I started thinking about making a few changes to the bike, to give it a more sleeker European "Street Fighter" look. Again working with my friends, we created custom rearsets (with 1950's Ducati foot pegs), instrument cluster, tail loop and the now infamous "Duck Foot" kickstand. As well as updated the lighting and added some different rare parts to give it a totally different look. As a result the bike drop almost 18 pounds too. The bike ride great and draws attention everywhere it goes. I ride the bike also most daily all around Arizona.
