This Month's Featured Bike:
DUCTAPE’S 2005 S2R Dark

Sometimes you have to go in one direction before you see the light coming from the opposite direction. This is what happened to me in regard to my 2005 S2R Dark.

Even though it is my first bike, I knew it wouldn’t really be mine until I made a few mods. Since I was starting with a Dark, I decided to go ‘Darker Than Hell.’ All went well as I would break out the flat black rattle can and go to work on any part that I could easily take off, paint and refit, whenever I had some free time. As I made the Monster darker and darker, it looked meaner and meaner.

That is when it hit me. It just did not reflect my true self. And that is the whole point of modifying your bike.

So I decided to go in a whole new direction. I wanted this bike to reflect who I really was. When I learned that I had to go out of town for work, I decided it was time to make the change. I left my bike with a trusted friend to do the job for me. He enlisted the help of one of his friends and two professional designers.

While I was gone, my friend posted up some teaser pics and I couldn’t believe what a wonderful job they did in capturing my visions of my perfect bike. Here are a list of the modifications that turned my Ducati Monster S2R Dark into the bike of my dreams.

The modification that stood out most and obtained the most praise from my fellow DMLer’s was the sexy white and pink lace that my seat was lined with.

I think it actually made my seat softer and I could almost smell the sweet smell of baby powder.

In continuing to use the sexy white lace it was added to the headlight, it really set off the front of the bike.

Then there were the strategically placed beautiful pink bows on the rear axle, mirrors, sides of the headlight mounts and the clutch cover. This was a nice contrast to the black wheel, mirrors, headlight mounts and silver clutch cover.

Getting the GIRLZ RULE license plate was a tough task for my buddies to tackle but they did and I cannot thank them enough for their efforts. They had to bribe a sweet little 18 year old girl into letting them have the license plate.

To pull off my dream of a pink forks on my bike they wrapped them in a semi transparent shiny pink lace. It was a really nice touch that most people don’t realize until they are really checking the bike over.

When I originally bought the S2R Dark I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t have the strip that the other S2R Monsters had so I was floored when I saw that my bike had been given a hot pink, that’s right, HOT PINK strip on the tank.

The other subtle changes that were made include:
• White lace around the beer tray, or as I like to call it…my wine cooler tray.
• Purple and pink horn on the handlebar.
• Purple and pink streamers on the bar ends. You ought to see these things fly in the wind, it is beautiful sight.
• Pink crape paper flames in the exhaust…that just say “Pinker than Hell”
