The bike is
a 2000 MY Monster 750. It started off life as a red bike but the
color change was necessary (that will be cleared up in a bit).
My girlfriend loved to go for bike rides but she is a TERRIBLE
passenger...so I suprised her with a Monster.
She is short
and even after I lowered the bike as far as I could it was still
too tall, so had the seat dished out and recontoured by a local
auto interior shop. He had to do a custom seat cover for it as
well.
This helped
but still not enough, now the footpegs were digging into the back
of her calves...so a call to Alex Ortner was in order. He machined
out the rearsets that are on the bike now, and with them properly
adjusted for her she could not only be flat footed at a light,
but was more comfortable when riding....but the bike had no suspension
travel in the rear so Alex cut the hoop between the swingarm and
rocker, took 3/8" out and made a new threaded insert for
it.
All
of this helped but now the seat/rearset assembly was trying to
force her body forward, and the bars were trying to hold her upright
so Alex installed a set of 916 clipons and that was the finishing
touch..she loves it and says it feels more stable now (more weight
over the front tire)....now as for the paint. We took a group
ride to Frankenmouth Michigan and went to dinner. A lady walked
in and asked if those were our bikes...and that they had fallen
over.

The Monsters kickstand broke a large chunk of asphalt out and tipped
over...big dent in gas tank. Newparts are too expensive and I happen
to know a few painters....she chose the color and the flame design/color.
The bike is now Corvette Electric Blue pearl with blue and purple
pearl flames.
